Turns the TV on. Even from standby.
Plenty of phone remotes can switch a TV off. SwipeRemote also wakes your Samsung from standby over Wi‑Fi, so the phone in your hand really is the only remote you need.
It takes one switch on the TV, Power On with Mobile. The setup guide shows exactly where it is for your TV's year.

Questions, answered.
Is SwipeRemote really free?
Yes. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases, and nothing locked. Volume, power and every other key work from the first launch.
Do I need the internet, a Samsung account or SmartThings?
No. SwipeRemote talks straight to your TV over your home Wi‑Fi, so it keeps working when the internet is down. There is no sign-in of any kind.
Why does my TV ask me to Allow SwipeRemote?
Samsung TVs ask before a new device can control them. Choose Allow once and SwipeRemote remembers it. To stop the TV asking again, set Access Notification to First time only. The setup guide shows where.
I lost my TV remote. How do I press Allow?
Use the TV Controller, the small button or joystick under the bottom edge of most Samsung TVs. Press it to bring up the on-screen controls, then move to Allow and select it. If your TV is already in Apple's Home app, the Remote in your iPhone's Control Center can press Allow too. More options.
Can it really turn my TV on?
Yes, from standby, over Wi‑Fi, once Power On with Mobile is switched on in the TV's settings (where to find it). It can't wake a TV that is switched off at the wall, and some 2016 models don't have the setting.
Why doesn't typing work in YouTube or Prime Video?
Those apps draw their own on-screen keyboard instead of using the TV's, so typed text can't reach them. Use the trackpad on their keyboard, or the voice search inside the app. Typing works in the TV's own search and in apps that use the Samsung keyboard.
Can my iPhone's volume buttons change the TV's volume?
Apple doesn't let App Store apps take over the volume buttons. Use the volume keys in the app, the Control Center and Lock Screen controls, a widget, or Siri: Turn the TV up with SwipeRemote
.
Does it work when I'm away from home?
No, and that's on purpose. SwipeRemote only works on the same Wi‑Fi network as your TV, so nothing ever has to go through the internet.
Does SwipeRemote listen to or record me?
It listens only while you hold the mic button. Your speech is turned into text on your iPhone, used to run the command, and then thrown away. It is never stored and never sent to us. Details are in the privacy policy.
Can I try it without a TV?
Yes. Tap Try without a TV on the welcome screen to explore every control in demo mode.
Is SwipeRemote made by Samsung?
No. SwipeRemote is an independent app made by Sarwar Chahal in Mumbai. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Samsung.
